I know you all have been waiting for the big blog post about our Italy trip and frankly, I don't care how long you guys wait. I do it on my time and my terms. There is a lot to cover so I might have to do a couple posts. Actually I might do a post for each City we were in so that they are a little separated and more organized. So the first one will be about the first city we saw when we came into Italy which was Venice!
As soon as we flew in I had my friend Davide come pick us up from the Venice airport. We were super tired from our flight of crying babies but eager to set off on our adventure. We drove to a City called Mestre that you have to pass through before going to Venice and we went to our first restaurant. Kim and I tried the Carbonara and I think she wasn't expecting the noodles to be so thick as it was hard for her to eat.

So the restaurant is just at the bottom of this apartment complex. That is basically the format for a lot of stores and restaurants in Italy. Anyways after lunch we then took off on train accross the bridge over to Venice and this is the bridge you first see when you step out of the train station.

Kim was facinated how the building were so close to the water and all the different passageways and the fact that the whole city is on water, held by just pillars underneath. After navigating through the city a big you eventually come to one of the famous bridges called Ponte Realto. There are a bunch of shops along the bridge.

I won't go through all the details in the blog post for each city but give the highlights and later I'll post all the pictures to the pictures section where you can browse in more detail. One of the other major stops in Venice was in the famous square where St. Mark's basilica resides.

As you're facing the church in this picture there is a huge square behind. When I went there during my mission they used to have a bunch of little booths set up selling seeds for the pigeons and the pidgeons would fly up on you. I think they band selling seeds from the boot but there are some guys that walk around and try to put them in your hands but I think it's illegal.

A blast from the past. I thought it would be cool to post a picture of me in the same place on my mission and to show everyone how the pigeons fly and sit on you.
